Emma S Davis RSW
Born into a family of artists in Paisley in August 1975, Emma studied Fine Art Drawing & Painting for four years at The Glasgow School of Art and graduated in 1998 with a BA Honours.
She exhibited in galleries throughout Scotland during her studies, which concluded in a sell-out degree show.
Emma was the youngest ever recipient of the Alexander Graham Munro Travel Award at the RSW Annual Exhibition in 1999, which allowed her to travel and paint extensively in Italy the following year. She exhibited her series of paintings from Italy at the RSW Exhibition in 2001, and was elected an artist member of the RSW in November of the same year.
Since then, she has won several prestigious awards, exhibited at several group and solo exhibitions throughout the UK, and along with her husband Alan, set up Wilson Davis Fine Art gallery and framers in the picturesque setting of Quarrier's Village by Bridge of Weir.
Her work is included in many private and corporate collections.
Of her painting style, Emma says: "My paintings are often personal. My moods and emotions about particular areas I am painting, the strength of light and most importantly the colour influence the way that I work each day. I aim to evoke a feeling of a place rather than reproduce a direct likeness."
