Christine Cummings
Christine Cummings has been creating ceramic sculptures for over 10 years now, her unique style and love towards the natural world is captured by her beautifully hand crafted pieces. Using a mixture of crank bodied and stoneware clays she is able to bring her research and sketches to life, the finished pieces complimented by her own unique method of Raku and smoke firing.
Originally Christine's work expressed her interest in the movement and life of pigs, she has since developed her style and research to capture the beauty of many animals in our natural world. Christine shows her commitment and love for fine art, the finished pieces express her natural ability to realise her research and observation.
Christine Cummings regarded as one of the finest ceramic sculpters, her work has generated interest from collectors throughout the UK and europe.
"I began making animals whilst studying ceramics at Lancashire Polytechnic, which to begin with was purely pig studies, spending alot of time at agricultural shows in the rare breeds tent.
Many Years later I'm still making pigs along with a whole host of other animals, source material is never far away - a cow in a field, a scratching chicken or a dog racing down the street.
Sketching from life is a very big part of my work making me study the subject at great length.
The pieces are all hand crafted in earth stone clay being finished either by Raku or smoke firing
I sell work widely through galleries across the UK and in Europe".
