Artist Talk and Exhibition: The Clyde - An Artist's River, with James Watt RGI
Thursday 26 August 2010, 7.30pm
Tickets £10 (includes wine and canapés)
Our previous Artist Event was ‘The Clyde - An Artist's River' with James Watt RGI, Scotland's finest marine artist. During a career spanning 50 years, Jimmy has painted the River Clyde and the Greenock waterfront, chronicling life on the river from the last great boom years of the 50's and 60's up to the present day. No other artist has spent the greater part of a lifetime depicting our maritime heritage at first hand - and no other artist will ever again be able to do so.
An immensely successful artist, Jimmy is a recipient of many awards including The Royal Bank of Scotland Award at the Glasgow Institute, and has exhibited widely. He is an elected member of the RGI, and his paintings are included in many important public and corporate collections including HM The Queen, HRH Prince Philip, HRH The Princess Royal, The Royal Navy, Clydeport, Clyde Shipping Company, Stena Marine and Yarrow Shipbuilders Limited. His mural "Shipbuilding" can be seen in Port Glasgow Town Hall.
An exhibition of Jimmy's paintings will be shown at the gallery from Thursday 26 August - Sunday 5th September 2010.
